A supervisor of the Nevers jail committed suicide Friday night in the armory of the establishment with a service weapon, we learned Saturday from the Prison Administration. According to two sources familiar with the matter, the 49-year-old agent, who was off work for physical and not psychological reasons, went to the prison on Friday evening and took refuge in the armory.

He would have locked himself in this armored room to commit his act. The door was opened in the presence of the school head, revealing that the man had turned a service weapon against him. The assistant regional director went there as well as the staff psychologist, who was to stay as long as necessary.

An investigation, entrusted to the Nevers police station, is underway, the prosecutor's office of the same city told AFP. "At this stage, no writing or message from the deceased to announce or explain his gesture has been found," he said. The Prison Administration (PA) “joins the pain of the family and their colleagues in the remand center. He was an experienced agent and very appreciated by all. "A minute of silence in tribute to this agent was observed on Saturday morning when his colleagues took up duty, in the presence of the assistant inter-regional director," said the AP.
