A false suspense

Undisputed leader of the PDCI, Henri Konan Bédié, thus puts an end to a false suspense by responding to a call from party officials, asking him "  insistently  ", "to apply for the nomination convention of the candidate  ".

One of the main party officials, Jean-Louis Billon, who was presented as a possible candidate, announced his withdrawal in favor of Henri Konan Bédié. The PDCI will nominate its presidential candidate scheduled for October 31 during an “  exploded convention  ”, due to coronavirus, on July 25 and 26. The deadline for submitting applications is July 31.

Two presidential candidates have already declared themselves. The ruling party appointed Prime Minister Amadou Gon Coulibaly in March, who has been in France since the beginning of May due to heart problems. Former rebel leader Guillaume Soro, former ally of President Alassane Ouattara, declared himself the first but faced several legal procedures including a sentence of 20 years in prison with forfeiture of civil rights and lives in exile in France.
