The national border is a unique place in Sweden and one of the few places in the world where you can ski in a ski resort under the midnight sun, in the middle of summer.

- Until the early 2000s, proper skiing was common during midsummer, but in recent years there have been more and more varying conditions with so little snow that you can't call it skiing. During some of the last few years we have not been able to open during midsummer, but this year there is a lot of snow, says Rita Wallberg, chief operating officer of Lapland resorts.

And for those who went to the national border to celebrate midsummer, it became a special experience.

- You can't even describe it, you have to experience it, says Sara Berglund, who celebrated midsummer in the ski slope.
