It has been an eventful year to say the least for Greta Thunberg, as she sailed across the Atlantic to New York and the UN Climate Summit.

- Presidents, prime ministers, kings and princesses come forward and want to talk. They recognize me and suddenly see their chance to get a picture they can post on their Instagram account with the hashtag #savetheplanet, says the 17-year-old climate activist and continues:

- It seems in some way to make them forget for a moment the shame that their generation has failed all future generations. It seems to be a little easier to sleep at night then.

Thunberg also talks about what it is like to be at the center when one's purpose is the opposite.

- My message is and always has been: listen to the scientists, listen to the science, she says.

The worst picture worst

Had she not been the world-renowned climate activist she is now, Greta Thunberg had crossed the Atlantic by lifting a freighter, she says.

- They still travel and, unlike airline cruise ships, are not dependent on paying passengers. But everything I do and say is distorted and turned upside down, leading to mockery, conspiracy theories and hate drives on social media. Which in turn leads to murder threats against me and my family.

- The threat picture is significantly worse than all the storms in the world.

Know the leader

Finally, Thunberg gives a boon to anyone who does not take nature's warning signs seriously.

- Wholeness, morality, truth and long-term mean nothing anymore. Our emperors are naked, every one, she says.

"Summer in P1" with Greta Thunberg will be released as a podcast at 07.00 and will be broadcast in P1 at 13.00. It is also broadcast on Sweden's Radio play.
