Agents of the National Police have arrested in Alicante a man who has allegedly had a woman locked up for several months in his home, whom he married as a result of a deal with the victim's mother so that she could reside in Spain. Apparently, this individual attacked the woman sexually, physically and verbally on a daily basis and held her with the help of two relatives, also arrested.

The police became aware of the facts through a complaint about the disappearance of a woman who had been missing for several months, according to the security forces in a statement.

The agents found out that her husband apparently kept her locked up in a home against her will and that she received verbal, physical and sexual assaults daily. Specialist agents of the UFAM 1 group of the Judicial Police of the Provincial Police Station of Alicante went to the house to check the veracity of the facts.

Once there, they found a woman who was locked inside the house. The agents designed a special device in which a crew of Alicante firefighters had to intervene, to be able to free her and remove her from the house through one of the floor windows .

Once in police stations, the victim explained to the agents that she married the now detained one year ago to be able to reside in Europe, in exchange for some goods that she had in her country. According to investigations, the woman came to Spain for a deal between her mother and the man , which consisted of selling her daughter and giving land in her country. The victim complied with the family decision in order to be able to legally reside in Spain.

Once in Spain, she refused to sign a power of attorney transferring those assets to the detainee and since then the individual allegedly kept her locked up in her home without letting her leave, physically and sexually assaulting her every day, according to the victim's report to the agents.

After releasing the woman, the agents continued with the device in order to locate her aggressor, who was finally arrested along with two of his relatives who were working as custodians of the victim.

The investigation culminated in the arrest of three people aged between 48 and 53 years for alleged crimes of illegal detention, ill-treatment and sexual assault, among others. They have been placed at the disposal of the Investigating Court acting as a guard in Alicante, which has decreed freedom with charges for all those involved.
