If you are facing a medical emergency, you want first responders to know how to reach your loved ones. You may also want to know information about your medical history from allergy to unseen health challenges, right?

Android phones have a dedicated tool to display vital information, including emergency contacts, which ambulance crews are trained to search for.

Recently, Google released an update to transfer its security app on Pixel phones to more devices, and to expand its capabilities to respond to emergencies.

But before delving into the security app, we recommend that you set up personal emergency information on an Android phone, as it could save your life one day.

Prepare emergency details

Your detail setting will vary depending on the type of phone you are using. Samsung users can, for example, fill in this information, by opening the phone application then going to the contacts and choosing their profile and going to the bottom of the page to find a paragraph for emergency information through which they can fill in their medical information and the contacts they want to contact in cases Emergency.

Generally for all Android users, they can open the Settings app and search for emergency information using the search bar at the top of the screen. One of the results should take them to the appropriate section of the settings.

Once you find the Emergency Information section, enter the information you want to share, including your medical details and emergency contacts.

To view what others will see on your phone, or practice accessing medical information on someone else's phone, try to unlock your phone by pressing the power button or tapping on the screen. When the phone asks to enter your passcode, tap Emergency or Emergency Call. The next screen will contain another button to show medical information.

Google Pixel users have another option using the personal security application on the phone. Although Google has expanded this app’s inclusion in the Pixel lineup of phones by launching a Pixel Drop update in June, only Pixel 3 and 4 users can access the Accident Detection feature, which will automatically call for help and alert your contacts in Emergency situations when you discover that you have been in a car accident, for example.

Once the security app is set up, you will be able to start sharing emergency information to give your location to stakeholders and set security checks. This feature will ask you if you need help, and if you do not respond, Emergency Sharing will start automatically, which is a useful feature if you are going out late at night. You will also receive alerts in the event of crises, emergencies or natural disasters occurring in your area.
