New Karolinska in Stockholm has since March treated people who have become ill with covid-19 with steroids, reports Dagens Nyheter.

- Dexamethasone is more potent than, for example, methylprednisolone that we have used, but it does not matter which one you use. The point is the same, to knock down the immune system, says Lars Falk, section manager at the Ecmo center at New Karolinska to the newspaper.

Here are the figures from the Swedish Public Health Authority from the last 24 hours: 

102 new deaths, among people with established covid-19, have been reported in the past 24 hours. 

A total of 5,041 have died in Sweden. 

54,562 have been found to be infected by the corona virus in Sweden. This is an increase of 1,239 compared to the previous day. 

The number of received or are receiving intensive care in the country because of covid-19 is  2322 . That figure was yesterday at 2,317 .

I live in Malmö and have symptoms. Called my health center but did not test me.
What is it that really applies? I thought everyone with symptoms would be allowed to test themselves. No wonder the infection ravages as freely as it does.

WHO stops a study of the malaria drug that US President Donald Trump has said he eats for prevention against covid-19, Hydroxychloroquine, writes The Guardian.

The reason is that the medicine has not been shown to have any effect against covid-19.

WHO has paused the study on an earlier occasion. It was then resumed in early June.
