The Commission of the Statute of Deputies has voted this Thursday to process the request for the JxCat spokesperson, Laura Borràs, to be judged by the Supreme Court (TS), since this has been the position of the PSOE, of the PP, Vox and Cs.

Parliamentary sources have informed Efe that in this Thursday's session Unidos Podemos has abstained, PNV and JxCat have voted against, and ERC and EH Bildu have not participated.

The sources consulted have explained that the reason given by the representative of Esquerra, the deputy Joan Josep Nuet, has been based, on the one hand, that the Supreme Court's trial of Borràs will not be "fair", and on the other, that neither they are willing to "launder" alleged corrupt practices or administrative fraud.

Once the petition has been completed by the Commission, the endorsement of the plenary session is missing, which will occur next week.

Parliamentary sources have indicated that there have been two votes on the same number of opinions: one, drawn up by the lawyer of the Commission itself, in favor of the procedure; and another, made by JxCat, against.

The lawyer also wrote one on the rejection of the request, but it has not been voted, the aforementioned sources have explained.

The positions of the PSOE, the PP, Vox and Cs to grant the request have endorsed the favorable opinion; consequently, that of JxCat has been ruled out.

The plenary will have to speak now; It will do so next week in a closed-door vote, as established in the regulations for those opinions prepared by the Statutes of Deputies Commission that "do not affect the incompatibilities" of the parliamentarians, as is the case.

The president of the Congress, Meritxell Batet, if the vote in favor goes out in plenary, she will communicate the decision to the Supreme Court and Borràs, therefore, will be judged in this instance.

As it is graded, it can only respond judicially before the high court.

The JxCat spokeswoman is accused of alleged crimes of embezzlement, documentary falsification and fraud against the administration, among others, for the award of a series of contracts when she was director of the Institut de les Lletres Catalanes.

His is the first request processed so far in the legislature.
