The US Department of Justice sued the ex-adviser to the American president for national security John Bolton in order to block the publication of a book he wrote about working in the White House. According to US media reports, a lawsuit against Bolton was filed with the District Court of the Metropolitan District of Columbia.

The 27-page document claims that publishing the book “The Room In Which Everything Happened” violates the non-disclosure agreements signed by the former Trump administration official and also poses a threat to US national security.

As noted in a lawsuit filed in court, the book of John Bolton contains classified information. The US Department of Justice also claims that the ex-adviser has ceased to cooperate with the White House to verify that his book is in compliance with non-disclosure rules.

“The National Security Council has established that the manuscript in its current form contains certain passages, some of them several paragraphs long, which contain classified information related to national security. Moreover, according to the NSS, the information contained in the manuscript is classified according to the level of secrecy “secret”, “top secret” and “top secret, of special importance,” the motivation of the claim says.

The document notes that Bolton, when hiring the US Presidential Administration, entered into an agreement with certain conditions.

When Bolton worked in the Trump administration, he tried to drag America into armed conflicts around the world, in particular, with the DPRK, Iran, Venezuela, recruited HSE professor Alexander Domrin in a conversation with RT.

“But all his projects failed. Now Bolton is continuing his anti-Trump activities, he wants to dump on Trump his dirt in the interests of the globalists, who also oppose the US president. This is quite timely, since elections should be held soon, ”the expert noted.

Alexander Domrin suggested that opponents of the US president, the Democratic Party’s policy, would defend the former national security adviser.

“If secret information is disclosed in this book, then Bolton will have to go to court, which, naturally, the Clintons and Biden will in every way impede. The resolution of this situation will depend on the American judicial system, ”the expert noted.

Working odds

Recall that John Bolton was fired from his post as adviser to the President of the United States on national security on September 10, 2019. Trump justified this decision by disagreeing with Bolton's proposals in the field of international relations, and also said that the ex-adviser "made very big mistakes."

“He did not find a common language with the people in the administration, whom I consider very important,” Trump noted.

In October 2019, the American media reported that John Bolton plans to write a book about his work in the Trump administration, in which he will analyze both the personal qualities of the 45th president of the United States and his political course.

The figure of Bolton and the possible content of his memoirs also appeared in the case of the impeachment of Donald trump. At the end of January 2020, The New York Times reported that, according to the manuscript, the US president allegedly told Bolton that Washington would not give Ukraine its military assistance until the Kiev authorities launched an investigation into the corruption of former US Vice President Joe Biden and his son. Recall, Biden is the only opponent of Trump in the 2020 elections.

It was the freezing of military aid, as well as the subsequent discussion of this issue with Vladimir Zelensky, that led to the launch of the Trump impeachment procedure by the House of Representatives of the US Congress.

Commenting on the current White House lawsuit against a former national security adviser, publishers of the book Simon & Schuster noted that John Bolton in his memoirs really accuses Trump of pursuing his personal interests and setting them above state interests.

“It’s hard for me to recall at least one serious Trump decision made during my work in the presidential administration, which would not have been caused by the desire to be re-elected,” his publishers quoted Bolton as saying.

Also, the publishing house reports, the book of the ex-adviser contains the statement that the main mistake of the impeachment initiators was excessive attention to the episode with Ukraine and ignoring other similar abuses of the presidential power. According to Bolton, Trump allegedly regularly created similar situations in foreign policy areas.

Today, it’s difficult for Trump to find supporters for work in his administration, since a certain system has been built against him, which is extremely difficult to break, said Alexander Domrin.

“The number of Trump’s associates in the American elite is close to zero, because the American elites have been brought up by globalists for generations,” the political scientist explained.

Freedom of the press

The largest US human rights organization, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), criticized the lawsuit, calling it an attempt to censor. Human rights activists compared this incident to an attempt by the administration of the 37th US President Richard Nixon to block the publication of the so-called "Pentagon Dossier" about the failed US campaign in Vietnam.

Donald Trump himself said on June 15 that the publication of memoirs containing specific information could lead to the criminal prosecution of John Bolton.

“I consider any conversations with me as with the president a state secret. So, if he wrote a book, and this book will be published, then he will break the law, and, presumably, he will have problems of a criminal nature. I think so, "the Washington Post quoted the American president as saying.

The head of the US Department of Justice, William Barr, recalled that senior officials of the presidential administration signed an agreement on non-disclosure of information and were required to go through the procedure for checking their memoirs, which Bolton refused to complete.

The book was postponed several times already - initially the publication was postponed from March to May, and then to June 23.

Political scientist Alexander Asafov, in a conversation with RT, noted that John Bolton is a fairly experienced official who has been in politics for decades, and is now trying to make money on the publication of his book following an American political tradition. However, the publication of such memoirs right now may adversely affect Trump's chances of winning the 2020 election.

“The publication of such a book can cause tremendous electoral damage to Trump. The Trump administration is trying to negotiate with Bolton to postpone the release of the book, because even if no secret information is provided there, new circumstances can ruin a carefully created election image, ”the expert noted.

In turn, Alexander Domrin believes that despite publicizing the work of the Trump administration, this book is unlikely to change anything in the alignment of events that occur in the United States on the eve of the 2020 presidential election.

“To a greater extent, this is influenced by the protests and unrest that the Democrats organized so that the Americans would think about whether to vote for Trump in the upcoming elections,” the political scientist said.
