The prefect of Loire-Atlantique has taken away the last hopes of music lovers hoping for concerts similar to previous years. The Fête de la musique will not be able to give rise to rallies on the street Sunday in Nantes, he announced.

"The contours of this edition can not take the form of musical gatherings on the public highway since this type of gathering is not compatible with respecting physical distance and barrier measures", justifies the prefect, recalling that higher gatherings to 10 people remain prohibited insofar as grouping of people can "constitute centers of contamination". Bars are also subject to these constraints.

At windows or on the Internet

However, the music will be heard, promises the city hall of Nantes. The event can be expressed in a “quirky” and “revisited” way. After having applauded the caregivers each evening during confinement, the Nantes residents are invited on Sunday "to perform on their balcony or at their window, in music and song, from 8 to 9 pm". Captions will be made and posted online on the city's website the next day to relive the "best moments of these musical moments in Nantes".

A page dedicated to the Fête de la musique will also be available on metropole.nantes.fr from June 21. It will be fed by several playlists from Nantes artists. Finally, at sunrise (6 am), the Angers Nantes Opera choir will open the Fête de la Musique "from an emblematic place in the heart of the city of Nantes".
