Many Swedes had probably planned for a home ester, ie to vacation in Sweden. But Foreign Minister Ann Linde announced on Wednesday that the Foreign Travel Advisory for ten European countries will be lifted on June 30. Then it will again be possible to visit popular holiday countries such as France, Italy and Spain.

The fact that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cancels the travel advice to the ten countries (see fact box) is because they themselves have opened for travelers from Sweden and the rest of the EU.

"This means minimizing uncertainty factors for Swedes," said Foreign Minister Ann Linde (S) during Wednesday.

Jessica Enbacka, CEO of TUI Nordic, is relieved and happy about the message. And the message also seems to have gone home with the holidaymakers.

- Traffic increased during the evening and the booking entrance tripled, says Jessica Enbacka in the Morning Studio.

Greece at the top

Travel company Apollo also saw a significant increase in bookings.

- Interest was greatest for Greece, Croatia and Spain, and it is there of the ten countries on the list that we have our package tours this summer, says Annica Smith, Marketing Manager at Apollo to TT.

The Foreign Travel Advice was previously said to be valid until 15 July. TUI will not schedule any trips but will start flying again in mid-July.

Passengers are required for mouth protection and the company has worked to secure its hotels.

Limited flight offer

But even though the door to Europe is now open, not everyone will be able to book the dream trip this summer. The supply of flights is limited and so is the economy of travelers, according to travel expert Lottie Knutson.

- It will probably take a while before travel starts. I think, above all, that those who have apartments or houses in Spain, Italy and France are the first to stand, says Lottie Knutson in the Morning Studio.

Corona pandemic has hit hard on several of the countries that Swedes can now vacation in and some may feel anxious about what happens if you get sick. Swedes are entitled to health care in the EU, but despite this, you should never travel without a travel insurance, Lottie Knutson warns.

- It is just as usual, one should not travel away without having travel insurance. This is good because you get help faster.
