June 18, 2020Government meetings at Villa Pamphilj in the context of the fifth day of "We are planning the relaunch". A busy morning of meetings with many acronyms of the agri-food and tourism sector. To open, the intervention of the Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte for the first meeting of the day with representatives of the agricultural sector.

Coldiretti: "Over an emergency more than 12 billion euros lost. From agriculture 200 thousand jobs"
"The Covid-19 emergency resulted in estimated losses of € 12.3 billion to the national agricultural sector in 2020 due to the cut in exports, the difficulties and closings of bars and restaurants, the collapse of tourist flows and the heavy contraction of production quotations for certain products in contrast with the increase in retail prices due to distortions and speculations that must be stopped ". This is what the President of Coldiretti Ettore Prandini said on the occasion of the convocation of the Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte for the States General. "Since the pandemic began in Italy - said Prandini - 57% of the 730 thousand national farms have recorded a decrease in activity with an impact that varies from sector to sector, from livestock to wine, from fruit and vegetables to oil, from flowers to plants without forgetting the peach and the agritourism which has reduced the number of visitors ".

Then speaking of the relaunch of the sector "with adequate training and simplification, national agriculture can offer Italians in difficulty at least 200 thousand jobs which today are necessarily entrusted to seasonal foreign workers who cross borders every year and then return to their country. "said Prandini. After being snubbed for decades there is a growing interest of Italians in rural work, also due to the difficult situation in which other economic sectors find themselves. An important positive signal for the sector which, however - explains Coldiretti - clashes with the lack of training and professionalism that is also necessary for agricultural activities, especially for those who come from completely different experiences.

Confesercenti: Tourism sunk: -13 million travelers
The long wave of the Covid emergency sinks the summer of tourism. Despite the resumption of national and international mobility, reservations do not take off. And for the three months of the summer an unprecedented drop is expected, with 12.8 million travelers and 56 million overnight stays less than in summer 2019. A sharp slowdown that will cancel more than 3.2 billion euros in turnover, of which 52% for non-hotel activities and 48% for the hotel sector. This is what emerges from a study conducted by Cst Firenze for Assoturismo Confesercenti, interviewing a sample of 2,118 entrepreneurs of hospitality.

"We need a change - comments Vittorio Messina, national president of Assoturismo Confesercenti - the States General, in which we participate today, are an opportunity to deal with the crisis. We need to intervene to extend and make redundancy requests less bureaucratic; we also propose areas free, with tax advantage for companies and visitors, for the destinations that will be most affected by the drop in foreign flows. But we must - concludes Messina - also plan the revitalization of the sector, which is worth 13% of GDP and is the business card of our country in the world. A relaunch based on digital innovation and the revision of tax credit restructuring, to make the Italian accommodation offer more attractive and more in line with the expectations of tourists ".
