On the 17th, India, Mexico, Ireland and Norway were successfully elected with 184 votes, 187 votes, 128 votes and 130 votes respectively. In the group of African countries, Kenya and Djibouti competed for seats, winning 113 and 78 votes respectively, both of which did not reach two-thirds. In the second round of voting on the 18th, Kenya was elected with 129 votes and Djibouti won 62 votes.

  The five countries elected this time will succeed Belgium, Dominican Republic, Germany, Indonesia and South Africa on January 1 next year. The other five non-permanent members are currently Vietnam, Niger, Tunisia, Estonia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Their term of office will end at the end of 2022. Non-permanent members have a two-year term and are replaced by five each year through elections. They cannot be re-elected.
