Paris SG will return to the competitive scene of the League of Legends video game after three years of absence, teaming up with the Talon Esports team, the Paris club announced on Thursday.

"We are delighted to launch this stimulating partnership with Talon Esports and to return to League of Legends," said Fabien Allegre, director of brand diversification and merchandising at PSG, in a statement. "Esports remain one of the main pillars of the club's brand diversification strategy."

PSG, already present at a high level in football and handball, had launched its esport branch - video game competitions - in 2016 and quickly positioned itself on League of Legends, one of the flagship games of the sector. But the club withdrew from the "LOL" scene a year later after disappointing results.

PSG, which seeks to expand its presence internationally and especially in Asia, will take part on Saturday in the Pacific Championship in partnership with the Hong Kong team Talon Esports, said the club.

"This partnership strengthens the visibility of the Paris Saint-Germain brand in our key markets and to new audiences around the world. We have the fierce desire to build a fully-fledged esports club," added the club.
