June 18, 2020 Over 40 properties including land and buildings, numerous motor vehicles, company shares and other assets for a value of 13 million euros have been confiscated from Nicolino, Gianluigi and Carmine Sarcone, residing in Bibbiano in the Reggiano but currently held and Giuseppe Sarcone Grande, resident in Reggio Emilia, believed to be prominent exponents of the 'ndrangheta in Emilia-Romagna. The confiscation took place as part of a joint activity carried out by the DIA of Florence and the Carabinieri of Modena, with the collaboration of the Operative Section DIA of Bologna and the Carabinieri of Reggio Emilia and Crotone, and under the coordination and impulse from the District Attorney of Bologna.

Compared to the 4, originating in the province of Crotone, the obligation to stay in the
Municipality of residence, for a period of five years. The confiscated assets are located in the provinces of Reggio Emilia, Modena, Parma, Perugia and Crotone: over 40 properties (land and buildings), numerous vehicles, registered to natural and legal persons, substantial financial resources, company shares and corporate compendiums , as well as foreign companies and bank accounts located in Bulgaria and Romania, for which the collateral channel of judicial cooperation in criminal matters has been activated.

The measure stems both from the results of an investigative activity of the DIA Operational Center in Florence, which in 2014 had allowed to seize the assets of the Sarcons as an emergency, and from the development, by the Carabinieri of Modena, of the results of the "Aemilia" investigation, coordinated by the Bologna District Anti-Mafia Directorate, which has already led to numerous convictions for mafia-style association, fictitious registration of property, extortion, usury and other crimes.
