The long-awaited prize awarded by the Foreign Press Association in Italy will celebrate the excellence of Italian cinema again this year, promising a competition with no holds barred - and no surprises - as already announced by the trio of finalists, selected a few hours ago by the committee of the jury. An important anniversary that coincides with the centenary celebrations since the birth of Alberto Sordi and Federico Fellini, perhaps the two representatives par excellence of Italian cinema in the world.

"The 60th edition is a precious milestone - explain the directors of the award Claudio Lavanga and Alina Trabattoni - which falls on the centenary of the birth of two great masters of Italian cinema: Federico Fellini and Alberto Sordi. Also for this reason, the Globo d ' Gold for Lifetime Achievement this year was unanimously awarded to Sandra Milo. She is a true living icon for generations of spectators, who made her debut right next to Deaf in 'The Bachelor', and who subsequently was the unforgettable interpreter of dozens of films, including also '8' and 'Giulietta degli spiriti' by the master Fellini ".

It will be a difficult choice, that of the jury committee, which in these days has also had to take the decision not to organize the famous gala soirée to celebrate the winners, who will be given the prizes by the jury managers on behalf of everyone, with an online award ceremony, which will be broadcast to the public on July 15 on the Globo d'Oro website. "The Golden Globe celebrates a prestigious milestone - say the members of the jury committee - however, sixty years after the first ceremony, unfortunately, as happens in the most unpredictable of scripts, it will not be possible to celebrate this milestone with the Grand Gala of awards that all the winners of this year would have deserved. As correspondents we never stopped working to tell about the pandemic, but despite this setback we did not want to give up watching and voting on the numerous films, documentaries, TV series and short films in competition, to give voice to this year too, this award which is unique in its kind. An independent recognition to Italian cinema, awarded by those who tell Italy every day looking at it from the outside ".
