  • Anniversary.Carmen Sevilla and Alzheimer: turns 88, almost a decade without memories

Naming Carmen Sevilla means remembering that she was the girlfriend of Spain. What a word to remember! Gone are her films, the affection of the public, the true love of her second husband Vicente Patuel and all those men who yearned for her body, such as Charlton Heston -who bit her lip because during the filming of Marco Antonio and Cleopatra (1972) the actor kissed her with his tongue in one scene-, Luis Mariano, Marlon Brando, Yul Brynner or Cantinflas , who was so hung up on her that he immediately put in his hand a huge brilliant that she diplomatically rejected.

In 2011 it was announced that he suffered from Alzheimer's and at 80 he had to say goodbye to neighborhood cinema . For 'Carmen de España' that moment was tremendous. Currently, Carmen is, but is not. For five years he has lived in a luxury clinic on the outskirts of Madrid where he receives all the necessary care. Only two people can visit her, her only son, Augusto Algueró Jr, and her close friend for more than four decades, Moncho Ferrer.

The figure of one of the greatest stars of the show in our country has been remembered in the first program of the third season of Blood Ties, in which Jaime Peñafiel, Alaska, Agustín Bravo, Carlos Ferrando, Rosa Villacastín and Rocío Carrasco participated , the new signing that finally revealed exclusively what Carmen whispered to him on the day of Rocío Jurado's funeral 14 years ago: "He left us very soon, but he will always be with you."

In the space some little-known facts were revealed in the life of the protagonist of Violets imperial (1952): "The worst thing is not having been able to have three children (she gets excited) ... I had two abortions", confessed Carmen herself in a Stock video they broadcast. And from the study, Peñafiel finished: "The interruption of these two pregnancies for professional reasons made him bitter ." At that time, that was a crime. That fact made her quite miserable throughout her life.

The actress, in the 60's.

Carmen was one of the great divas and, as such, she was treated by numerous leading men and Hollywood executives. Columbia studios offered her a five-year contract, but the actress turned it down because she didn't want to be away from her family. And he continued with his film career in Spain: The balcony of the moon (1962), Camino del Rocío (1966) or We the decent ones (1976). In addition to singing through endless stages and television sets in many Spanish-speaking countries.

He also rejected the marriage proposals of the bullfighter Carlos Arruza - Manolete's rival - and the businessman Ricardo Fuster, who even gave a first payment for an apartment on the luxurious Paseo de la Castellana. But Carmen made him ugly by leaving him to marry the musician Augusto Algueró in 1961 at the Pilar cathedral-basilica in Zaragoza. Pope John XXIII sent them a congratulation. Three years later her only child was born. Her husband was not unfaithful to her, among others, with Ornella Mutti and a certain Noelia, to whom he composed a song that Nino Bravo made popular: "What a life Noelia gave me", the Sevillian actress would admit years later.

At her wedding to her first husband, Augusto Algueró, in 1961.

To top it off, Augustus was also a controller. Blanca Marsillach confessed that when Carmen acted with her father, Adolfo Marsillach, in The Secret of Monica (1962), the musician timed behind the camera the duration of the kisses and the contact of the lips between the actors. The marriage lasted until 1974.

At that time a relationship began with businessman Vicente Patuel. And the great secret was revealed. Despite the fact that the two had not yet obtained a divorce, the couple negotiated a 30-million-pesetas civil wedding exclusive with Jaime Peñafiel, then editor of the magazine . It was a full-fledged armor because the journalist didn't trust anyone. Not even the artist's son knew it, Carmen did not know where she was going to marry, the guests at the wedding were figurative and the servant of the owner of the estate of Arcos de la Frontera dressed as a priest because Carmen remained faithful to her Catholicism.

Peñafiel did not hesitate to tell what really happened: "They were having a very bad time because the farm was taking all the savings. I gave them half of it lost money before knowing if they could get married and Antonio Asensio, the owner of the magazine, did not I stopped wondering when it was going to take place. One day Vicente appeared to me in a very excited office to ask me for 10 million pesetas more because a letter was due that day. Carmen was on the phone on her knees to say yes. Suddenly, Vicente put He put a gun on the table and said 'either you or me, but one of the two doesn't come out alive.' So I asked the manager for another 10 million. "

With Vicente Patuel, her second husband and the great love of her life, in the 80s.

As soon as the divorce came, they were married on September 5, 1985, Patuel forced him to retire and took refuge in the Los Valles farm in Extremadura with his famous sheep. After 13 years without appearing on the screen, Valerio Lazarov hired her in 1991 to present the Telecupón on Telecinco. Grace came when the contract was signed. Both Carmen and Augusto understood that the presenter was going to earn 300,000 pesetas per month, but Lazarov corrected them because that salary would be daily. And there she was for six years. With that great fortune, he bought an apartment in Marbella, a luxurious apartment in the expensive Pintor Rosales street in Madrid in front of the Debod temple and kept the estate out of debt. The saddest moment came in April 2000 when Vicente Patuel died suddenly from a heart attack. She was the great love of her life with her son Augustito.

The Neighborhood Cinema program was his salvation until his mind gave up. Her strong mental gaps made her work as a presenter impossible. And withdrew. To this day, it still remains in the undying memory of millions of fans.
