A 16-year-old boy died on Wednesday afternoon after drowning in a stream at La Roque-sur-Cèze (Gard), say the firefighters.

Witnesses had indicated to the rescue that the young man had disappeared, after having jumped into the water, in the Sautadet waterfalls, an area made up of waterfalls and rapids.

A dangerous site

The divers managed to locate the adolescent, who was in cardio respiratory arrest. Despite the resuscitation performed by the fire brigade, the victim died.

The firefighters remind that the site of the Sautadet waterfalls is known for its dangerousness.
