The thirty-year-old accused of biting a police officer by hand last April in Nice, in the middle of confinement, was sentenced Wednesday evening to 15 months in prison with probationary suspension. He will also have to compensate his victim, said the Nice prosecutor's office at 20 minutes .

Passed in immediate appearance, just after the facts, the Niçois was, since, imprisoned. At his request, he was granted time to prepare his defense.

He bites the policeman during a check

The story goes back to April 21. During confinement, and when travel must be justified, the 30-year-old man, who accompanies his wife to the gynecologist, is checked without his certificate. During this check, the Azurean bit the agent.

The latter had to undergo "a battery of medical examinations" after the bite, deep according to  Nice-Matin. Although the author had not disputed having moved without the certificate, he did not admit having attacked the police.

"He was the victim of violence"

At the time, his lawyer Me David André Darmon expressed himself to this effect at 20 Minutes and declared that if there had been a bite "it is because [his] client was trying to free himself from the arm of the policeman who was strangling him. He was the victim of violence. He was forced to bite ”.

In the process, the 30-year-old man, through his lawyer, filed a complaint with the IGPN. The accused, repeatedly convicted of contempt and rebellion, was finally found guilty on Wednesday.
