Algerian football star Soufiane Feghouli announced his support for the Uighur Muslims, joining the global sports stars group - led by German star Massoud Ozil - who support their cause.

The professional player in the Turkish club Galatasaray posted a tweet through his official account on Twitter on Thursday evening, in which he said that "the life of the Uighurs is important" along the lines of the slogan "The life of blacks is important."

Feghouli joined Galatasaray in 2017 from West Ham, England, for 4.5 million euros.

Feghouli is one of the most prominent contributors to the Algerian national team's victory in the last African Nations Championship in Egypt.

Feguli has preceded many football stars over their criticism of the violations against Uighur Muslims, most notably the German star of Turkish origin Masoud Ozil.

Last December, Ozil’s condemnation, professional at Arsenal FC, raised the silence of the Muslim world over what he described as violations by China of the Uighurs ’global resonance and sympathy.

Under the headline "The Bleeding Wound of the Islamic Nation," Ozil said in a statement on Twitter that "the Islamic world is mired in silence while the Western media highlights abuses against Uighur Muslims."

"The Koran is burned, mosques are closed, schools are forbidden, and religious scholars are killed one by one, and the male brothers are forcibly taken to the camps."

In the same context, the former financial football star Omar Friedrich Kanoute announced his solidarity with Ozil in his defense of the Uighurs Muslims.

New Zealand rugby player Sony Bill Williams also joined Ozil, in support of Uighur Muslims as well.

In turn, Egyptian football star Mohamed Abu Trika praised Ozil's position, describing him as "brave" and "athlete with a good conscience."
