UEFA authorized the clubs on Wednesday to make three changes to the list of players qualified for the Champions League, which will resume in August, but still closes the door for summer recruits: the new names entered should already be in the squad. last winter.

"Teams will be allowed to register three new players on their List A for the end of the 2019-2020 season, provided that these players have already been registered with the club and qualified to play for that club by the last registration deadline. , namely February 3, 2020 for the Champions League and the Europa League ", explained the body, after the holding of its executive committee.

The same rule applies for training contests for the women's C1, including Lyon and Paris SG.

List A contains the 25 names of players qualified for European competitions. Clubs have already had the opportunity to modify three elements after the winter break, like OL with Bruno Guimaraes and Karl Toko Ekambi last February.

But it will not be possible to add any summer recruits, while the transfer window between French clubs has been open since June 8. This therefore excludes the possibility of the Zimbabwean striker Tino Kadewere, arrived from Le Havre, playing with Lyon against Juventus for the 8th final return.

UEFA also confirmed that five replacements would be possible per game, as authorized by the Board (the guarantor of football laws) in early May. This new rule, provoked by the health crisis linked to the coronavirus, was adopted in the main European countries which took over.

However, from the 2020-2021 season, UEFA has warned that it will revert to three changes.

The continental authority announced Wednesday that it would organize a final tournament to eight (August 12-23) in Lisbon to choose the winner of the prestigious Champions League. The C3 and C1 ladies will finish in the same format, respectively in Germany (August 10-21) and in the Spanish Basque Country (August 21-30).
