Along the country's east or south coast no stronger flowering has yet been seen. The fact that cyanobacteria blossom has taken off is because it has been warm and the water has been calm. If the weather becomes more volatile, the algae collections may decrease again.

- It will probably be a bit messier weather with increased cloudiness over the Baltic Sea this week so probably we won't be able to see anything on the satellite images in a couple of days, says Johannes Johansson, oceanographer at SMHI

Always algal bloom nowadays

Increased wind can also cause the surface deposits to disperse and mix into the water mass.

- There is always flowering of cyanobacteria nowadays, but it is difficult to say where it shows up and where it does not show up. Although much research has been done in this area.
