SEK 36,000 for deferred summer holidays

In Sweden, many regions have been forced to relocate medical staff's planned summer vacations. Something not needed to be done in Blekinge, so far.

- Our goal is for everyone to have their four week summer vacation. But given the current situation, we cannot guarantee anything. The situation can change quickly, but our goal is for everyone to be able to spend their four weeks, says Karin Norgren, HR manager at the Blekinge Health and Medical Center.

For those who still want to move their vacation there is something called the summer package. Here, the employees receive different amount of compensation depending on how many vacation weeks they choose to move.

- If you move all your four weeks, you get SEK 36,000, says Karin Norgren.

In some regions, healthcare professionals are forced to move their vacation for compensation. But in many regions there is an offer similar to the summer package in Blekinge. However, the compensation offered can look very different. In Skåne, for example, SEK 6,000 is offered per week.

How many who come or have used the summer package in Blekinge, Karin Norgren cannot answer at present.

- We can't see that until after the summer, sometime in the fall. But last year, 16 people moved all their vacation.
