When he talks about the future, Thierry Burkhard is a worried general, "  the balance of power has become the rule on the world geopolitical scene against a background of uncomplicated remilitarization  ", he analyzes coldly. The Chief of the Land Staff also notes that on the ground the adversaries are now testing those facing them fairly harshly, without being afraid to go to the incident.

The recent clash in the Mediterranean between the French frigate Courbet and Turkish ships which did not hesitate to illuminate with their command of missile launching the French ship come to control a Turkish cargo ship is the perfect illustration of this.

General Burkhard therefore wants to prepare his soldiers for much harsher conflicts. My ambition," he emphasizes, " is to forge a hardened Army ready to face the toughest shocks until the major confrontation  ." Faced with increasing regional crises, the objective of the Army, which has 115,000 soldiers, will therefore be to devote its energy to operational preparation, a preparation also extended to new fields of action such as cyber . A reorientation, in a way, to be ready to engage in a high intensity conflict.
