A high-ranking Turkish delegation arrived in the Libyan capital Tripoli, including Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoوlu, Finance Minister Berat Al-Bairaq, Director of Intelligence Hakan Fidan, presidential spokesman Ibrahim Qalan, and a large number of advisors and officials in the presidency and the Turkish government.

This surprise visit comes in light of the Turkish-Russian dispute over the Libyan file, which led to the postponement of the visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to Ankara. It also comes in light of the reconciliation of the Libyan government forces backed by the Turkish weapon on the outskirts of the strategic city of Sirte in preparation for storming it, as well as a sudden delay to the visit of the Italian Foreign Minister to Ankara, and strong-worded exchanges between France and Turkey.

This is the first visit of an official Turkish delegation to Tripoli after the liberation of Kamel in western Libya and its extraction from the hands of the forces of retired Major General Khalifa Hifter.

In this context, a source in the Turkish presidency said to Al-Jazeera Net that the reason for this visit with this high and large delegation is due to the arrangement of the reconstruction of the areas liberated by the forces of the reconciliation government after the battles they fought with Haftar forces in the Libyan West, based on cooperation agreements signed by the Turkish and Libyan governments.

The source pointed out that the delegation also includes the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources Albar Salan Bayrakdar, the Director General of the Agricultural Bank Hussein Aidan, and Amrah Shaner, Vice-President of the Central Bank.

He said that the delegation will discuss with the Al-Wefaq government negotiating mechanisms with Libyan figures in Benghazi, and with international actors, led by Russia and America, especially that the delegation includes the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Director General for Middle East and Africa Affairs at the ministry, Yunus Demiral.

The source hinted that the delegation might arrange for the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Tripoli, especially as it comes a week after the visit of the President of the Libyan Presidential Council Fayez al-Sarraj to Istanbul and his meeting with President Erdogan, indicating that the delegation also includes the chief adviser to President Safar Turan and the high-ranking security official Arul Weights.
