On Tuesday, February 18, an elderly man was stabbed to death near Knalleland in the northern parts of Borås. Witnesses, including schoolchildren, saw a young man slowly leave the scene. Two days later, the young man, who acknowledged the deed, was arrested and arrested.

It soon became clear that the murder had no motive.

During the trial, the 21-year-old said he had suffered from mental illness for several years and had, among other things, hallucinations, but received no help. On the night of February 18 he could not sleep. During the day he experienced more and more hallucinations and strange behavior. He felt that someone was looking for him and it felt like everyone around him was enemies.

Choppy mindlessly

Finally, he took a knife out of a box at home, as well as a towel so as not to cut himself. Still, he says he had no intention of killing. The hallucinations continued as he came out. After a while he began to follow a man, with no goal. When he caught up with the man he began to chop mindlessly, after which he left the place.

The victim became so severely stabbed that he died.

The 21-year-old admits the deed, and his story is backed by what the witnesses said. The district court sentenced him for the murder to forensic psychiatric care with special discharge examination.
