This is reflected in the annual housing market survey. Last year, all municipalities in Östergötland believed that there would be a deficit of three years.

Gotland has a special situation because holiday home buyers from the mainland are pushing up prices. As a result, it will be extra difficult to find housing for low-income households, and especially those who are new to the housing market. The Gotland region even believes that the shortage of housing will be exacerbated in the next few years, pending construction projects to be completed.

In Östergötland, the County Administrative Board believes that the most important reasons why it is being built too little are high construction costs and a lack of detailed plan-designed attractive land.
