English international striker Raheem Sterling said Tuesday was "time to act" against racism, his voice joining those of many footballers who took a stand after the death of George Floyd in the United States.

"I seem to speak for most blacks, we are all tired. You see what is happening with the protests in the United States, this is now affecting the United Kingdom," said the player. Manchester City in an interview with Sky Sports.

"Many people have remained silent so far and use this moment to be united, they do not just want to have answers but also want to change society (...). It is time to act", he said. he adds.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on Monday the creation of a commission on racial inequality.

He had called for tackling the "substance" of racism and not the symbols, referring to recent degradations of statues on the margins of anti-racist protests.
