China accused India of overcoming a disputed border between them at a time when the Indian army announced the killing of three of its soldiers in border confrontations, and officers from both sides rushed to meet and calm tensions.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Legian said that Indian soldiers seriously violated the compatibility between the two countries, crossed the border line twice on Monday and attacked Chinese, which led to "a serious physical confrontation between the border forces on both sides."

The Chinese spokesman added that he was not aware of casualties on the border with India, in response to a question about the losses caused by the clashes.

China has invited India not to take unilateral actions or "raise problems" regarding the border dispute between the two sides.

In contrast, Indian army spokesman, Colonel Aman Anand said in a statement, "There was a violent confrontation yesterday evening that resulted in deaths. The dead on the Indian side are an officer and two soldiers."

He added that high-ranking military representatives of the two sides are holding a meeting to defuse the tension.

The accident occurred at night in the Jalawan Valley, Ladakh district of Jammu and Kashmir, the part of India under the disputed Kashmir region, the site where skirmishes occurred between the two sides recently.

This is the first time since 1975 that India and China have been engaged in a military confrontation that anticipates casualties on the border between the two countries.

Three weeks ago, talk began about the evacuation of the citizens of the two countries with increasing tension, as the two countries deployed reinforcements with thousands of soldiers on both sides of the border, which called for international appeals for calm, fearing a war between the two nuclear giants.
