US President Donald Trump said his former national security adviser John Bolton would break the law, and he could face a "criminal problem" if he does not stop publishing a book that is highly critical of the president.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump added that any talks they had had were confidential.

Speaking at the same conference, Justice Secretary William Barr stated that Bolton had not completed the process necessary to publish his book and that the ministry was trying to get him to delete the confidential information.

Despite Trump's repeated threats, Bolton appears to be still insisting on the publication of his book, "The Room Wear at Happend" (the room where it happened) on June 23.

Martha Radatz, anchor to the American ABC channel, tweeted on her Twitter account that she had just sat with Bolton for an exclusive interview with him. She called him "the man the president doesn't want you to hear."

He's the man the president doesn't want you to hear.

I just sat down with John Bolton, Pres. Trump's former trusted adviser, for an exclusive one-on-one interview — with no question off limits.

Simon & Schuster published in a press release Friday that Bolton's book provides an informed testimony to "Trump's inconsistent and floundering decision-making process".

She also said the book details Trump's dealings with China, Russia, Ukraine, North Korea, Iran, the United Kingdom, France and Germany.

"This is the book that Donald Trump doesn't want you to read," she added.

"What Bolton has witnessed has surprised him ... His only concern is to elect him for a new period, even if that means putting the nation at risk or weakening it," she said.

According to the publisher, Bolton says in his book, "I have to set an intellectual trigger to determine any important decision Trump made during my tenure without being subject to re-election calculations."

The president sacked his adviser in September, amid sharp disputes over a wide range of foreign policy challenges.

Bolton is the third national security adviser under the Trump administration in 519 days. He was a careful observer, careful to take notes, and witnessed a number of important foreign policy meetings.
