Sheikha Azza Bint Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairperson of the Parents and Teachers Council in Ajman, revealed that the council has received more than 10 cases of violence against children who have been abused and bullying in public and private schools, since the beginning of the school year 2019-2020, and the council was able to solve 30% of them amicably, noting Until the rest of the cases were provided legal and social consultations, and transferred to the competent authorities in the Ministry of Education and ongoing follow-up and resolution.

Sheikha Azza bint Rashid Al Nuaimi told Emirates Today that one of the council’s goals is to follow up on school affairs, in addition to the efforts made by the Ministry of Education to improve the level of education in general without prejudice to the powers and competencies of the ministry, and keep pace with the UAE’s directions to build a safe and free school environment from Bullying and violence in all its forms.

She noted that the council received cases reported by the parents of the students, explaining that their children were abused by teachers and their colleagues, who practiced bullying during their presence in their schools.

She added that the 10 cases belong to children between the ages of 8 and 13 years, pointing out that the rate of physical and verbal violence was the highest, indicating that it was able to solve three cases by signing pledges to those who had abused them not to repeat them again, and to satisfy parents and educate the families of students whose children bully their children. Their colleagues should improve their upbringing and teaching them new methods of dealing with fellow students, so that they are not subject to legal accountability in the future.

She pointed to another case of physical violence and bullying, where a social worker was contacted to rehabilitate students who had bullying, indicating that most of the complaints were transferred to the Ministry of Education, for follow-up and resolution.
