June 15, 2020 There is an alleged culprit for the murder of the chef from Modica, Peppe Lucifora, 57 years old who died in mysterious circumstances. He had been found in his house, locked in a room. It was November 10, 2019.

The Carabinieri arrested their colleague Davide Corallo, 39 years old, residing in Giarratana, near Ragusa, but serving in the Syracuse area.

He was among the suspects and had also been heard on the case. The arrest was carried out by the Carabinieri of Modica, at the request of the deputy prosecutor of Ragusa Francesco Riccio and at the disposal of the investigating magistrate Eleonora Schininà.

The DNA tests
The traces of DNA collected by the Ris of the Carabinieri called to investigate, with the reconstruction of the last days of Lucifora's life, would have provided useful elements to trace the presence of Coral in that house during the time of the crime.

The autopsy
The autopsy established that the cook had been hit hard enough to make him unconscious and suffocated him by strangling him with his right hand. Lucifora, according to the findings, would not have defended himself. He was found partially undressed.

The key and the mobile phone

Even today, the key that closed the room where he was found dead was not found. His cell phone also disappeared. Investigations were made on his tablet.

Registration in the register of suspects
After a first phase of complex investigations, it was entered in the register of suspects of Corallo which on February 13 was heard for almost seven hours at the provincial command of the Carabinieri of Ragusa. The Carabiniere, however, had rejected all accusations and declared himself extraneous to the facts. During the investigation all electronic devices were seized in Coral.
