The Supreme Court of the United States granted, on Monday, a victory to the sexual minorities by considering that they were protected by the mechanisms of anti-discrimination at work, contrary to the position of the government of Donald Trump on the subject.

"Today we have to decide if an employer can fire someone just because they are gay or transgender, the answer is clear," the law "prohibits", said the Court in a majority judgment six out of nine judges.

Take "LGBT people out of their second rank status"

In the United States, the rights of sexual minorities have especially advanced in recent years thanks to the courts, including the Supreme Court which, in 2015, legalized same-sex marriage. However, until Monday, only 22 states prohibit the discrimination of sexual minorities in the professional sphere. Elsewhere, it was up to the Supreme Court to get “LGBT people out of their second rank status”. During this debate, the discriminated employees were able to count on the support of numerous associations, elected Democrats as well as that of about 200 large companies including Apple, General Motors and Walt Disney.
