The municipality’s food inspection director, Sultan Al-Tahir, said that the commitment of food establishments increased to 97%, from 93% earlier.

Al-Taher told «Emirates Today» that the municipality inspectors carried out 1902 field visits to food establishments in Dubai, during the past 20 days, which included 1843 institutions, during which 59 institutions were closed, constituting 3% of them.

Al-Taher said that the most prominent violations that were monitored were lack of commitment to social spacing, wearing personal safety equipment such as gags and gloves during preparation, as well as not using approved sterilization and disinfection materials.

He pointed to the increase in the level of awareness among many owners and workers in food establishments in Dubai, and commitment to precautionary measures compared to the previous period, which witnessed a greater number of violations.

He continued: «During the inspection visits, the municipality inspectors check the daily follow-up records of workers’ health, record sterilization and disinfection operations, in addition to ensuring that food safety requirements are applied to food during receipt, preparation and storage, display at healthy temperatures, and apply hygiene and sterilization procedures, to prevent contamination. Mutual and pest control ».

Al-Taher pointed out that the municipality audits all food establishments in the emirate with different activities, such as restaurants, cafeterias, cafes that provide food, groceries, supermarkets, and bakeries, and it also inspects and monitors delivery cars, to ensure their sterilization, maintain food safety procedures after every order, and change delivery workers For muzzle and gloves after each order.

And he asked all members of the community to contact the Municipality's toll-free number 800 900, to report any food safety violations, for the municipality to deal with the institution immediately.

He said that the municipality inspection teams implement a number of routine inspection visits, which are based on consumer reports, and apply fines according to local order No. 11 of 2003, regarding public health and community safety in the Emirate of Dubai, and stressed that the fines differ according to the type of violation, and are multiplied by repeated.
