Coinciding with the de-escalation, many citizens think about scheduling a vacation that until a few days ago was uncertain, mainly due to mobility restrictions. In the same way, there are those who prepare to spend a summer doing illicit business, taking advantage of the increase in visitors at leisure tourist spots already predisposed to more recreational activities. This is what was projected by a band disarticulated by the National Police and the Civil Guard in Barcelona dedicated to international drug trafficking and who intended to introduce some 100,000 ecstasy pills in Ibiza this summer. The objective was to supply due to the increase in tourists on the island.

In the operation, the agents arrested five people, residents of Badalona, Sabadell and El Pla del Penedès for the alleged crimes of belonging to a criminal organization and drug trafficking, and seized 160 kilos of marijuana, 71 kilos of hashish, 52 kilos of ecstasy, in the form of pills, a kilo of ketamine, six kilos of glass, 4 high-end cars, 150,000 euros in cash and a pistol with the serial number erased. The agents suspected of an industrial warehouse in Sabadell in which this drug trafficking could be carried out at the same time that a person who allegedly passed drugs hidden in double bottoms of vehicles was being followed.

For this reason, the two bodies collaborated to put an end to the band, based in Barcelona, which was perfectly structured and hierarchical, with its maximum responsibility being responsible for distributing the functions of the other members and managing money. At a lower level was his right hand, in charge of selecting the places where drug and money exchanges were carried out. The rest of the members of the network were in charge of transporting the drug in double funds of vehicles that they meticulously adapted to go unnoticed and not be discovered in the case of routine controls, with the aim of the merchandise reaching its destination.

On May 18, officers seized 150 kilos of marijuana in La Jonquera, hidden in a truck while trying to cross the border into France and into Germany. The two occupants of the truck were arrested. On June 5, the organization's leader and his right hand were arrested after renting a storage room in Barberá del Vallés (Barcelona) where they immediately stored 10 kilos of marijuana, 71 kilos of hashish, 100,000 pills, six kilos of glass and ketamine. powdered.

The following day, the agents searched the addresses of the person in charge of the organization and his right hand, intervening 150,000 euros, four high-end cars and a pistol with the serial number deleted. The fifth member of the organization was also arrested.
