Serious decrease in orders 3rd subcontracted auto parts company

President Miyanishi
"I will never dismiss an employee. If I am dismissed, I should be dismissed first."

That's what Kenji Miyanishi, president of Miyanishi Cosmos, an auto parts company headquartered in Yukuhashi City, Fukuoka, says. A third subcontractor manufacturer of Nissan Motor and Toyota Motor Corporation, which has a production base in Fukuoka prefecture, has been manufacturing and processing car seats and interior parts since 1988. It is one of the more than 500 subcontractors in Fukuoka prefecture, and orders have fallen to 60% in May and June, and the situation remains difficult.

Employees 60% Female 40% 60 years old or older!

Of the 200 employees, 60% are women and 40% are over 60 years old. Mr. Miyanishi's basic policy is to actively hire part-timers and re-employ employees, as the employment of women raising children and the employment of the elderly will lead to revitalization of the community.

President Miyanishi
: When you think of people who work in factories, young men tend to work hard, but we handle sewing work and small parts among car parts, so women with clever hands are very valuable. First of all, they are the first to rely on. Experienced, highly skilled, well-mannered and good example of young people. The prerequisite is never to be dismissed. So if you want to get fired, you should fire me first. Employees are a treasure to the company. Only employees can run a company, so we need to remain a company for everyone."

Survive with "multi-skilled engineering"

The company is now focusing on some training in response to a serious reduction in orders. It is strengthening of "multi-skilled workers". In a nutshell, "multi-skilled engineering" means having employees learn the work of various production lines. When a crisis such as the Coronal Era caused us to lose orders for certain work, until now, the employees in charge of the production line had to rest. If you become a multi-skilled worker, you can take on the task of a production line that is still in motion. If orders for multiple production lines are reduced, we will efficiently distribute employees, even out the rest of the time, and try to overcome the pain in the factory as a whole.

I've been trying to develop multi-skilled workers since before Corona, but I couldn't do enough training because of my busy schedule. Now that we have less orders, we have more free time to devote to training. The number of employees who became multi-skilled workers was about one every month, but in April 11 new employees were newly selected.

President Miyanishi
"It's a precious time to revisit the basics of Corona Warrior. When I'm just a multi-skilled worker, there are many disadvantages such as defective products due to unfamiliar work. When Corona converges, it is full We are planning to strengthen the system so that we can produce it.''

A woman in the second year after joining the company, who actually began training in sewing work with the aim of becoming a multi-skilled worker, said with satisfaction, "It's more fun and rewarding than doing one job." A veteran employee woman who is instructing the training said, ``Old people like us will retire soon, so I want young people to remember this technology and inherit this technology'' The dark factory was full of energy and motivation.

Never move and reconsider the basics

President Miyanishi says that what is important now is the “re-evaluation of the basics” in the coronary disaster.

President Miyanishi:
“The most important thing is to keep things around us. We always tell our employees to keep their toilets and meals clean, no matter how poor the company may be.” Even in such a difficult situation, it does not change. If you do not have the basics, you can not return even if you return to normal. Now I just want to review the basics and prepare for the next step.”

Despite facing the unprecedented crisis of a significant reduction in orders, President Miyanishi speaks calmly and calmly. I felt a strong sense of responsibility and pride in taking up local employment there.
