Since Saturday evening, there is a total stop to traffic on the Malmbanan after a ore train derailed. As a result, there are also stops for deliveries of iron ore pellets from the Kiruna mine down to SSAB's plant in Luleå.

But this does not mean an immediate stop to production at the Luleå ironworks.

- Right now we live on the small stock of pellets that are in the harbor in Luleå, says Monica Quinteiro, site manager at SSAB in Luleå.

Enough on Thursday

- We can handle pellets from the warehouse in the harbor until Thursday. So we hope that the Swedish Transport Administration's forecast holds and that the traffic on the Malmbanan can start again on Thursday, as has been said, says Monica Quinteiro.

If the rail traffic on the Malmbanan does not get started by Thursday, that means production will stop at SSAB in Luleå.
