The confidence of several ministers has increased significantly during the corona crisis, according to a new study by Novus. Prime Minister Stefan Löfven is the minister with the highest confidence, followed by Finance Minister Magdalena Andersson (S) and Defense Minister Peter Hultqvist (S).

Compared to the latest survey of September 2019, two of the ministers are new to the list of the ten for whom voters have the highest confidence - Social Minister Lena Hallengren (S) and Minister of Business Ibrahim Baylan (S).

- We have seen the Social Democrats steadily increase during the corona pandemic. Although we have seen a slight decline, this confirms that confidence is still strong for Sweden's leadership under the corona, says Torbjörn Sjöström, CEO of Novus.

Hallengren increases the most

Lena Hallengren increases in confidence by 15 percentage points - the highest increase among ministers - and goes from place 17 to place 7.

Those who increase most thereafter are Stefan Löfven (+11), Foreign Minister Ann Linde (+10), Interior Minister Mikael Damberg (+9), Magdalena Andersson (+8), Ibrahim Baylan (+8) and Minister of Culture and Democracy Amanda Lind ( +8). No minister has seen a remarkable decline in confidence compared to the latest survey.

All ministers on the top ten list are Social Democrats.

- The environmentalist ministers are entering a lower level. They have not held positions that are prominent during the pandemic. They have focused on certain environmental issues that are their core issues, but the core issues now are the issues of Social Democratic ministers.

"Depends on how it develops"

If confidence will decrease after the pandemic is over, it is too early to say anything about it, says Torbjörn Sjöström.

- It depends a little on how this continues. There has been a lot of criticism lately about Sweden's inability to cope with the corona pandemic. At the same time, it may be that we will not see a second wave because we already have such a large spread. So it all depends on what becomes the "truth" about Sweden's handling of the corona pandemic. But right now the Swedes' confidence is great for the social democracy and the government.

Tonight, Prime Minister Stefan Löfven is interviewed in SVT's Agenda. The program starts at 21.15 in SVT2 and on SVT Play.
