Kidnapped in late March in the Timbuktu region in northwest Mali, opposition leader Soumaïla Cissé is still in the hands of his captors, an armed group. If the Malian government assures that it is doing everything to obtain his release, the collective created for his release is worried. The members of this collective met on Saturday June 13 in Bamako.

During the meeting, the concern could be read in the eyes of the members of the Collective for the release of Soumaïla Cissé. We are worried about the situation of Soumaïla Cissé and that is why today we are stepping up to the plate,  " explains Moctar Ousmane Sy, president of the collective. To express national and international opinion our deep concern.  "

The collective believes, however, that the leader of the parliamentary opposition, kidnapped by armed men in the north for more than two months, is alive and well. "  We have received information saying that he is alive,  " says Moctar Ousmane Sy.

But gray areas remain in this case, said the president of the collective. In particular the fact that his abduction took place despite all the security assurances given by the authorities during the campaigns, then note that there has been no claim so far. What is happening ? We need to know, need to understand.  "

The Malian government is investing in its release, but that is not enough, it must do more,  " added the spokesperson for the group, which is very active on the ground.
