The accident destroyed several buildings near the highway.

One building has collapsed completely.

The tank lorry that bounced off the road hit the building, causing a secondary explosion, which was devastating.

So far, 19 people have been killed and about 170 injured.

Authorities investigating the cause of the accident explained that the tank lorry did not collide with other vehicles.

Chinese media reported that the tanker-owned company had a history of fines due to lack of timely vehicle performance tests.

The Chinese government has said it will strengthen the safety management of chemical transport vehicles.

However, Chinese netizens have already called on the government to act, saying similar incidents have continued.
