The “We Communicate Concern” platform is a unique initiative, with a human theme, and aims to provide psychological support, which is an essential need for quarantine people due to their infection with the emerging coronavirus (Covid-19), which involves a number of psychological challenges under the current circumstances.

The platform launched by Education Above All through its Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) program, in cooperation with the World Summit for Innovation in Health Care, one of the initiatives of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, and the application of the "teacher" of the local company "Dalala Smart", is a platform Interactive online provides social support for the injured by talking to them and sharing all their concerns.

The platform supports the workers category

The platform provides through its website (www.cfc.qa), and through a team of volunteers, an opportunity to digitally communicate with the injured in their mother tongues, to provide reliable information issued by the official authorities in the country, preventive measures to limit the spread of the virus, and provide advice on how to maintain For their safety and physical fitness.

Abdullah Al-Bakri, Director of Community Development at Reach Out to Asia, “ROTA”, affirms that the platform came in response to the current situation, especially with the spread of the Corona virus, as well as supporting and educating the workers ’group, standing by them during this crisis and supporting them psychologically and notifying them that they are an integral part of society.

Al-Bakri says to Al-Jazeera Net that the platform aims to support the workers who suffer in light of their presence outside their countries, and the difficulty of communicating with their families, so they needed a channel to communicate with the world and society to speak with people they know and give them moral support through digital communication.

Psychological and moral support

The social divergence imposed on everyone after the spread of the Corona virus, caused some people - especially expatriates - isolation and a feeling of depression and entering into various pathological stages, which made psychological support one of the important things for this group to feel psychological relief and get rid of tension and fear, according to Al Bakri.

"We communicate with interest" has made the category of workers in Qatar feel the efforts of the government and the concerned authorities in communicating with them, caring about them in this crisis, and providing them with support because they are part of society, cooperating with them and guiding them to preserve themselves, according to Bakri.

Providing meaningful communication in addition to caring for physical health is of great importance to the various parties involved in the "We Communicate Attention" initiative, especially as individuals may find themselves vulnerable to stress, fear and anxiety.

60 volunteers trained and inspired

For his part, Sumida de Silva, one of the volunteers on the podium, considered that "our communication is an interest" that provides a kind of comfort and reassurance to the workers subject to quarantine, especially in light of their feeling of interest regardless of the nature of their work or the type of their residency, which leads to confidence in providing a government The State of Qatar is required to assist them during this critical stage.

De Silva says to Al Jazeera Net that all who initiate a conversation with us are satisfied and happy with the service provided to them via the podium, where they feel comfortable after talking to someone who sympathizes with them and provides them with new information they were not previously aware of.

The platform includes 60 volunteers who are trained and inspiring in the fields of psychology, social support and life skills, all of whom share a unity of motivation and goal of volunteering, which is to bring about positive change in the world even if it is simple and extend a hand and help to others, according to de Silva.

Voluntary home service

The volunteers who were chosen from the large database of the "ROTA" program, and who were specially chosen for this task, received a comprehensive online training to provide the service electronically from their homes, ensuring a commitment to the social separation between the volunteers and those subject to quarantine.

As for volunteer Asia Shafi, she sees, in turn, that her participation in this experiment put a heavy burden on her, given her awareness of the amount she can offer, especially as it is not possible to meet all the matters that concern the injured, but only to provide sympathy support or guide them to sources of interest.

Shafi explains that the high turnout on the platform is due to the visitors' knowledge of their ability to speak with another person in their language, which was praised in almost every conversation by visitors who were comfortable expressing their concerns and getting the answer in their mother tongue.

The most common fear for quarantined people is the feeling of heavy uncertainty and lack of physical activity, which affects their usual sleep pattern, but its treatment lies in some exercise to maintain activity, according to Shafi.

Conversation sessions in ten languages

The “Tawasuna Attention” platform provides one-to-one and one-to-one conversation sessions in ten different languages, namely Arabic, English, Hindi, Urdu, Nepalese, Bengali, Malayalam, Sinhala, Tamil and Tagalog, especially since talking to someone in their native language makes the communication process more smooth and effective.

Haitham Al-Haidari, co-founder and executive director of the "educational" e-learning platform, believes that "our communication is a concern" is a project that provides social and technical solutions, as it works as a link between the largest possible number of workers in Qatar and volunteers who speak the same language, which provides them with a safe space To talk to others.
