  • Coronavirus.Felipe VI: "The economic situation is uncertain and without a healthy economy it is difficult to move forward"

The Kings plan to star in an intense agenda for various autonomous communities once the state of alarm due to the coronavirus ends on June 21 and mobility between territories recovers.

Felipe VI and Doña Letizia have been attending some events outside the Palacio de la Zarzuela for several weeks, not linked to the Covid-19 pandemic, but all of them have taken place in Madrid according to the rule that has prevented travel between provinces.

Some communities have regained freedom of movement within their own territory, but it will not be until June 21, the day on which the state of alarm declared by the Government will end, when they will be able to travel without restrictions throughout Spain.

It will be from then on that the kings will initiate a series of visits that will make them visit various cities in the coming weeks.

To this is added that, according to what was reported this Saturday by sources of the Presidency of Portugal, Felipe VI will move on July 1 to the border crossing between the Portuguese town of Caia and Badajoz to preside over an act with the Portuguese Head of State, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa , in which the Portuguese-Spanish border will be reopened.

An act in which the presence of the head of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and his Portuguese counterpart, António Costa, is also expected .

With their travel agenda for communities in the coming weeks, the kings intend to contact on-site representatives of autonomous, provincial and local institutions to learn about the effects of the pandemic and to convey their support.

They will also regain direct contact with citizens throughout Spain and promote tourism throughout the country at a particularly delicate time for this sector.

Zarzuela has not yet offered details of the Kings' agenda, but some regional governments have already advanced the contacts they are having with the Royal House to fix the dates of these displacements.

This is the case of the Canary Islands , where the spokesman for the autonomous government, Julio Pérez , has reported that the King (and predictably also Doña Letizia) will visit the islands before the end of June.

Therefore, in the absence of official confirmation, the Canary Islands will be one of the first communities to visit.

For his part, the President of Cantabria , Miguel Ángel Revilla, revealed that two weeks ago he spoke with the King, who conveyed his desire to move to his community and perhaps visit the Cabárceno Nature Park , which he has fulfilled this week. its 30th anniversary.

It is foreseeable that the visits of the Kings will happen for much of the month of July, and Zarzuela has not yet confirmed whether they will continue the tradition of spending a few days in August in the Balearic Islands despite the fact that this year the 39th edition of the Cup has been suspended of the King of sailing that was to be held the first week of the month in the waters of the Bay of Palma.

Regardless of the possible stay of Don Felipe and Doña Letizia in Palma in August, the Balearic Islands are also expected to be one of the first communities to visit within the travel round in the coming weeks.
