The announcement comes at the request of the government which seeks to relieve the job market, strongly affected  by the economic crisis due to the coronavirus . The automotive group PSA pledged this Saturday June 13 to the government, through the voice of its boss Carlos Tavares, to reverse its decision to bring some of its Polish workers to France.

The Ministers of Labor and the Economy, Muriel Pénicaud and Bruno Le Maire had asked PSA Friday June 12 "  to hire temporary workers as a priority  " and to "  renounce  " this project announced the day before by management.

It is a victory but it must call others"

In the current situation, companies must do everything to protect employment in France,  " said the government, which quickly rose to the plate after the firm's announcement.

The manufacturer announced Thursday, June 11, to strengthen the French teams at its factory in Hordain, in the North, with its Polish employees. A "  first contingent  " of 120 Poles from the Gliwice factory - producing Opel Astra - was to arrive, and 150 others were expected to join them the following week, according to PSA.

Many questions remain unanswered after this change of direction, which did not wish to give more details. It is a victory but it must call others. We will remain hyper vigilant. The arrival of Polish workers at PSA Hordain is canceled, [...] but we will continue to fight so that this is also the case elsewhere  ", rejoiced Fabien Roussel, national secretary of the PCF and deputy from the North, evoking notably the case of the Moselle. An extraordinary Social and Economic Committee is due to take place on Monday June 15 to clarify the situation.
