June 13, 2020 The statue dedicated to Indro Montanelli has been smeared with red paint, located in the garden of the same name in via Palestro, in the center of Milan. "Racist, rapist" the writing that was made in black on the basis of the statue that represents the journalist.

At least four cans of red paint were spilled on the statue, then left on the spot by unknown persons along with some paper bags. In particular, the paint was poured on the face and then poured to cover a large part of the monument.

In recent days the Sentinelli association had asked for its removal with a letter addressed to the mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala, on the wave of anti-racist demonstrations that broke out all over the world following the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis. 

Digos (General Investigations and Special Operations Division) men are at work on site to gather elements that can lead to the identity of those who acted.

Fontana: dominant hatred, there is concern
"We are not really there. Hatred, malice and resentment are increasingly dominant over civil and democratic confrontation. There is serious concern." So the president of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, comments on the vandalism against the statue of Indro Montanelli in Milan.
