The Swedish Agency for Social Protection and Emergency Preparedness (MSB) has several resources deployed in the country should forest fires catch fire. At Västerås Airport there are currently four helicopters. Even earlier in the spring, there were helicopters in readiness in Västerås.

"The helicopters are being prepared in places in the country where the risk of forest fires is greatest and is being constantly reviewed," says Rickard Hansen, fire engineer at MSB, in a press release.

If the rescue service requests support from MSB, they can be deployed at an early stage, which reduces the risk of the fires that arise from extensive and difficult to extinguish forest fires.

The helicopters have a standby time of 90 minutes.
