The disappointment is great among the staff who work with covid-19 patients at the Vrynevi Hospital, says Lt. Therése Mechlenburg in SVT Nyheter Öst's video diary from the hospital.

- There are a lot of colleagues who have asked me to include this in the video diary. We do not receive any additional risk that the staff in some other regions receive. And we who have worked for the day surgeon earlier also do not receive the ob supplement that the IVA staff has. Instead, we will get a gift card on cheese and a t-shirt. It almost feels like someone is joking with us, says Therése Mechlenburg.

- I understand that those who have had a heavy load can feel this way. But at the same time, it is a bit sad to choose to rail over the gift. For it, for all our employees in the region, is a small sign of appreciation. There are many in the region who have had to change their entire operations, who have been looking for protective equipment and medicines, who have worked with communications or otherwise. And the gift is to show that we see it. It is up to each manager to decide what the gift will consist of, says Zilla Jonsson, HR director in Region Östergötland.

She says that Region Östergötland has not chosen to provide a risk supplement that a couple of other regions have done.

- We have chosen a different route. We have focused on patient safety, work environment and recovery and want to try to minimize and eliminate risks instead of paying for increased risk, says Zilla Jonsson.

In the fact box you can see what compensation Region Östergötland decided on.

In the video, Therése Mechlenburg talks about that the surgery staff who now work at IVA do not receive the same OB supplement. HR director Zilla Jonsson says this is because the different groups have different working time models.

"The possibility of getting 290 percent of the hourly wage if you work extra is, however, equal for everyone who works in intensive care," says Zilla Jonsson.
