China News Service, June 12 (Xinhua) According to the official WeChat news of the Liuzhou Intermediate People's Court, on June 12, 2020, the Liuzhou Intermediate People's Court of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region publicly sentenced the former deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People's Congress to the Lili bribery case. The defendant Xiang Lili was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for bribery and a fine of RMB 6 million; the property and fruits derived from the bribes of Xiang Lili were recovered according to law and turned over to the State Treasury. Xiang Lili said in court that he would obey the verdict and would not appeal.

  After trial, it was ascertained that from 2001 to 2018, the defendant Xianglili served as vice mayor of Changsha City and chairman of Changsha City Commercial Bank of Hunan Province, member of the Standing Committee and Deputy Mayor of Changsha Municipal Committee, mayor of Chenzhou City of Hunan Province, Chenzhou Municipal Committee The secretary, the deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People's Congress, and other positions provide assistance to relevant units and individuals in matters such as land development, project promotion, enterprise restructuring, and project contracting. From September 2003 to January 2019, Xianglili illegally received RMB 66.67 million from the above units and individuals through others.

  The Liuzhou Intermediate People’s Court held that the defendant’s act of Lili constitutes a crime of taking bribes, and the amount is particularly large and should be punished according to law. In view of the fact that Xianglili confessed his crimes truthfully after the case, pleaded guilty, repented, and actively withdrew all the stolen money, according to law, he could be given a lighter punishment. The court then made the above judgment.
