“Rescuers of the Russian Emergencies Ministry during air monitoring near the emergency site in Norilsk of the Krasnoyarsk Territory discovered birds: swans, ducks and seagulls. The return of the birds suggests that the restoration of the local fauna is gradually taking place, ”the press service of the ministry reports to TASS.

Rescuers specified that for household needs of personnel, water purified from oil products from the nearest water area is used.

“This water is safe to use,” the Ministry of Emergencies noted.

On May 29, diesel fuel spilled at the CHPP-3 owned by Norilsk Nickel. The pollution area, according to the prosecutor's office, amounted to 180 thousand square meters. After the emergency, four criminal cases were instituted.

On June 7, the first deputy head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, Alexander Chupriyan, said that it would take about two weeks to eliminate the consequences of a fuel spill.
