June 12, 2020 On the eve of the launch of the General States, the President of the Council, having filed the deposition before the magistrates of Bergamo, is dedicating himself to the final preparations for the meetings that will debut tomorrow at Villa Doria Pamphilij.

Giuseppe Conte will open the works, followed by David Sassoli, Ursula Von der Leyen, Paolo Gentiloni and the president of the European Council, Charles Michel. Still in doubt the presence of the president of the ECB, Christine Lagarde.

An appointment accompanied by controversy from the opposition and some doubts from the majority. Giorgia Meloni, Matteo Salvini and Antonio Tajani will not participate in the tables. The center chosen is desisted by the center, even before the objective of the appointment: "We are ready to meet the Government and the Prime Minister before or after the General States at Palazzo Chigi to face the problems of the country and to put in place a concrete plan to relaunch Italy. The States General will be a catwalk, we want to meet to work concretely on the contents and the reforms to be implemented. The meetings are held at Palazzo Chigi ", says Tajani.

"I do not know that the Italian Parliament has been moved to Villa Pamphilij. The General States of the Republic are the Chamber and the Senate and if Conte intends to dialogue with us he can come to Parliament", Meloni subscribes.

The invitation to report to Parliament is also shared by the leader of Italia Viva, Matteo Renzi: "Parliament must certainly have a role and immediately after the general states a passage and a parliamentary debate are needed. Everything is useful, the important thing is that move from chatter to concrete acts ", underlines Renzi.

Even the Democratic Party has some doubts about the timing of the initiative. "Not a bright idea," Deputy Secretary Andrea Orlando had said coldly. Over the days, however, the dem line has refined and the secretary Zingaretti now supports Conte's choice as long as it is not a simple catwalk, but really serves to establish a road map for a Recovery Plan able to use the better European resources.
