Russian President Vladimir Putin made his first public appearance in over a month at a flag-raising ceremony in Moscow yesterday.

Putin, who appeared on state television while not wearing a muzzle during the ceremony, was working remotely as a precaution due to the pandemic Corona virus. His last public appearance was on May 9. The Russian President thanked the country's medical workers for their service in a speech on the occasion of Russia's National Day, to celebrate the country's independence from the Soviet Union. "We bow to them for their limitless service, courage and sacrifice," Putin said.

Putin's spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said in separate comments to Russian news agencies that the participants in the ceremony were subjected to tests to detect the virus.
